Description A popular design of Tourte mute that attaches to the double bass easily. The mute is designed with slits on both sides to allow installation and removal without removing the strings from the double bass. Once in place, it remains on the instrument and is clipped over the bridge when required. Tourte mutes are used in orchestral and chamber music when indicated “con sordino” (with mute) in the music you’re playing. They are designed to give your double bass’s sound a different timbre. They are not a practice mute.
