A diminutive X-braced model with solid Honduran mahogany construction, the 5-17T features an 11 1/2 lower bout width and 23 scale length. Remarkably original, this particular 5-17T retains a couple Wartime features including the distinctive tuning machines and brass fretwire, benefitting from the servicing due an instrument of its vintage, including a recent neck reset and a bridge reglue. The tone has a bold, punchy quality, and theres remarkable projection on tap, particularly given the size of the instrument. The all-mahogany construction results in plenty of inherent warmth and a clear, woody quality that complements the natural chime and presence of the tenor sound.
